Okay, go ahead and swear.   Then get the hackle pliers to assist in repairing the thread that you have just broken.    Originally designed for tying flies for the sport of fishing, these have a strong grip and can be used as a short temporary bobbin.   Here is the thing you need for working the short piece of thread left when you break one on your pillow.

The Gimp Grabber© Hackle Pliers is crafted from a piece of strong spring steel surrounding a brass center complete with flat jaws at the end. The top jaw also has a small plastic cover that protects the thread when caught. The center is then held with a stainless steel rod 1/16" diameter. This allows the head to swivel side to side, a full 180o.

Type of woods used depend on availability. Shapes change with each individual turning.
